Our “sails” have been adjusted!!
A lot has transpired since this time last year. In March 2017 we decided to move SV Sweet Escape to Burnt Store Marina in Charlotte Harbor for a new sailing ground. At the same time, we decided to put SV Sweet Escape up for sale; we wanted a larger sailboat with a center-cockpit. BUT As the old saying goes, “Sailors make plans written in sand at low tide” because plans must be adjusted accordingly. Right after moving to Burnt Store Marina Henry’s step-father passed away. Henry’s mom needs assistance and after lots of sleepless nights we knew we needed to make an adjustment our cruising plans.
On December 20, 2017 we sold SV Sweet Escape, bought a “Super Sized Dock Box” (a home on the water) with a boat slip all on the same day!!
When we sold SV Sweet Escape we agreed we would wait 6 months to a years before we bought another sailboat. This would give us time to decide what we wanted; however it was sailing season and we wanted to go sailing. In our free time we scoured “boat porn”, climbed on many vessels and low and behold we found our new sailboat right down the canal from our new home in Punta Gorda Isles. We bought SV CSCape exactly one month after selling SV Sweet Escape.
SV CSCape is a beautiful 1986 Pearson 33-2 Centerboard. She has a shoal draft of 3.6 feet and with her centerboard down she draws 7 feet. We were so excited to have found a 32 year old boat that had an owner that not only has OCD but one who spared no expense to maintain his other love in like new condition throughout her entire lifetime. Now we can enjoy the 2018 sailing season. CHEERS! Here’s to new and exciting adventures aboard SV CSCape! ⛵️⛵️ Stay tuned for her new name and voodoo renaming ceremony….. 😇
